Webinar:  Kinship Families Affected by MH and SU Disorders

Wednesday, September 14, 1:00 – 2:30 Eastern

Kinship care promotes stability and a sense of belonging, particularly as children maintain connections with their family and cultural identity.  But kinship and grandfamilies can face unique challenges when parents of the children in care have a mental health or substance use disorder.  Challenges can include accessing specific developmental services for infants and children with prenatal substance exposure as well as tending to children’s emotional, physical, and behavioral conditions across developmental stages.

The National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare is sponsoring a webinar about these families’ special needs, the services and supports available to help them succeed, and the Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network national technical assistance center.  Register here.
