Upcoming Webinar:  Implementing the Pediatric Mental Health Care Access Program

As we have periodically reported over the years, the Massachusetts Child Psychiatric Access Project (MCAP) was launched in 2004, creating a peer-to-peer consultation network between primary care providers and child psychiatrists statewide.  This highly cost-effective model has allowed primary care providers to manage more complex behavioral problems without subspecialty referral, and has been adapted to increase access in many additional states.  Originally designed for presentation at the now-cancelled 33rd Annual Research & Policy Conference in Tampa, more information and registration for the free June 9 webinar is available here.

Archived Webinar:  Recruiting & Supporting Caregivers:  What We Do and Don’t Know

The Chronicle for Social Change has made the recording and slides from the recent above-titled webinar available at no charge.  Moderated by Editor-in-Chief John Kelly, the webinar reviews the information currently available on kinship care and other foster family providers, effective supports including technology, and how to improve engagement of families and youth.  The original broadcast was briefly delayed to allow the addition of a discussion on Coronavirus:  What’s Changed?

Accreditors’ Plans to Resume Surveys and Reviews

CARF began conducting Digitally Enabled Site Surveys (DESS) last month, using secure technology to conduct the traditional on-site accreditation survey activities.  DESS will be in use for the foreseeable future.  See a description here

COA earlier announced the postponement of all scheduled site visits through June.  They currently anticipate that site visits will resume in July, with virtual options to be offered until conditions improve.  Please check their COVID-19 page for updates.

The Joint Commission will resume regular surveys and reviews this month, with some changes to protect safety.  Current plans are outlined here.  Account executives have begun contacting providers with pending surveys to assess their pandemic-related status.

NACBH COVID-19 Resources

Thanks to all who have joined our COVID-19 Zoom meetings for timely discussion of challenges, plans and solutions among NACBH members.  As of our most recent meeting, please note the updated schedule for calls in June is every-other week:  June 8 and 22 at 2:00 p.m.  Reminders will go out the previous Fridays.

And we continue to update our COVID-19 resource page with federal information and guidance, materials shared by NACBH members, and selected other resources.   Please take a look and email Pat Johnston with additional materials that your NACBH colleagues may find helpful.  Forms, protocols and other tools developed by NACBH members are especially helpful and can be posted behind the Members Only log-in to prevent public viewing.
