Family First:  Prevention Clearinghouse Adds Services to the Review Queue

Although there was not a public call for nominations, the IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse last week added 14 programs and services to the list of interventions to be rated, joining six already in the queue.  To date, of the 25 that have been reviewed, 11 received a rating of “does not currently meet criteria,” including all three kinship navigator programs.  One kinship navigator program awaits review.

NACBH members are encouraged to review the list of completed and pending reviews and give some thought to potential nominations when the next public call is issued.

Telehealth Webinar to Include Telepsychiatry

On June 9, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Eastern, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will host a webinar on how telehealth can increase access to care and improve health care quality.  Presenters will discuss their work on the effectiveness of telepsychiatry, the impact of telemedicine on chronic disease management, and factors that help or hinder the use of telemedicine in urban areas.  Registration is required.

AHRQ has also updated its telehealth resources, including a sample telehealth consent form and guidance for clinicians on how to obtain informed consent.  AHRQ’s full health literacy library is available here.

5 Steps to Prepare for Health Care Transition

Got Transition has also released an online flyer for older youth and their parents or caregivers to prepare for transition to the adult health care system.  Included are a quick online quiz, transition timeline, readiness assessment, a guide to goal-setting, and information about a Medical ID app to store emergency information on smart phones.

2020 Transition Coding and Reimbursement Tip Sheet

Got Transition and the American Academy of Pediatrics have updated their Transition Coding and Reimbursement Tip Sheet, which supports the delivery of recommended health care transition services in pediatric and adult primary and specialty care settings.

The tip sheet includes an updated list of transition-related CPT codes, including new codes relating to telephone services, online digital evaluation and management services, digitally stored data service, and remote physiologic monitoring and treatment management services.  It also includes a new clinical vignette with recommended coding suggestions, a table displaying what type of providers can bill for each code, whether the service is delivered face-to-face or remotely, and a letter template that can be customized to encourage payer recognition of transition-related codes.
