Recorded Facebook Event:  The Intersection of Suicide and Substance Use

On September 15, the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute on Drug Abuse co-hosted a Facebook Live event on the intersection of suicide and substance use.  The discussion included common risk factors, populations at elevated risk, suicides by drug overdose, treatments, prevention, and resources for finding help.  Watch the recorded event here.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has developed two short videos for pediatric clinicians related to caring for the mental health of children and adolescents via telehealth.  The videos highlight some unique opportunities and considerations related to addressing adolescent substance use and suicide risk in a telehealth environment.

Webinar:  Improving Outcomes for Families Affected by SUD in Pregnancy

Thursday, September 15, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Eastern

This free webinar will focus on implementing Safe Plans of Care to support infants, parents, and caregivers affected by substance use disorder.  Co-hosted by the White House Office of Drug Control Policy, the National Network of Perinatal Quality Collaboratives, the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality, and the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare, speakers will highlight Oklahoma’s multi-system approach and the changes in health care, SUD treatment, and child welfare systems that support collaborative practice.  Questions for the presenters can be submitted when registering.
