Facebook Live:  The Intersection of Suicide and Substance Use 

Thursday, September 15, 12:30 – 1:00 Eastern 

In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month, the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute on Drug Abuse are co-hosting a Facebook Live event on the intersection of suicide and substance use.  Suicide risk is increased among individuals with a mental health or substance use disorder, or both.  The intersection emphasizes the need to address co-occurring conditions holistically.

Virtual Training:  The 5 C’s (not D’s) of Data

Sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), this 90-minute virtual training will teach participants to present data in a manner that best resonates with their audience.  After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Choose the most effective chart for their data
  • Use color for emphasis and action
  • Use data in context for maximum (and realistic) impact
  • Reduce clutter so data insights can be easily understood

SAMHSA Forecasts FY 2023 Grants

SAMHSA has posted a list of grants expected to be announced in FY 2023.  NACBH members are encouraged to review the descriptions of individual grant programs with an eye to potentially applying when the funding opportunities are announced.

John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Awards

Application deadline:  September 14

The Joint Commission (TJC) and the National Quality Forum are now accepting applications for the 2022 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Awards.  The annual awards program recognizes major achievements by individuals and organizations to improve patient safety and healthcare quality. Organizations that can be accredited by TJC must be, in order to be eligible for the award. Awards are presented in three categories:

  • Individual Achievement
  • National Level Innovation in Patient Safety and Quality
  • Local Level Innovation in Patient Safety and Quality
