Parity: Surveillance Ticks Up

In what we hope is a trend, state regulators are using audits and enforcement actions to promote compliance with federal and state parity laws.  Most recently, a market conduct exam resulted in a $1 million fine against United Healthcare for parity and other state regulatory violations in Pennsylvania.

TRICARE: Now and Later

As TRICARE begins the third year of the current five-year managed care support contracts with Humana and HealthNet, we continue to track both their performance and early plans for what will follow after December 31, 2022.  NACBH’s top TRICARE priorities are for the 2016 modernization of behavioral health benefits to be fully implemented, for interested NACBH members to begin participating, and for pediatric services to be improved overall.

MACPAC Sends Medicaid IMD Report to Congress

As earlier reported, the Medicaid and CHIP Access and Payment Commission (MACPAC) was charged with identifying the extent to which states are using Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMDs) under various Medicaid authorities, the services they offer, and how they are licensed, regulated and paid.  MACPAC delivered their report to Congress on December 30, and released it to the public on January 6.
