Historic Budget Reconciliation Package Poised for House Passage

As hoped for – if not entirely expected – last weekend the Senate used the budget reconciliation process to avoid a Republican filibuster and passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, including historic climate and energy investments.  It required unanimity in the 50-member Democratic caucus, which until the eleventh hour appeared impossible to achieve, as well as a tie-breaking vote by Vice President Kamala Harris.  The House has been called back from their August recess this Friday for a vote that is expected to send the bill to the President for his signature.

FY 2023 National Defense Authorization Act Marked Up

Both the House and Senate have marked up their NDAA bills for next fiscal year, and there is much to support for military families’ health care.  Almost too much!  But we’ll see what makes it across the finish lines and through conference.  In the interim, NACBH and the TRICARE for Kids Coalition are advocating for nearly two dozen provisions that would improve access to health care across the military health system, in both military treatment facilities and the civilian sector.

Juvenile Justice:  OJJDP Announces New Priorities and Directions

Provider Relief Fund Reporting Portal Open

The Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Reporting Portal is open for Reporting Period 3.  Providers who received one or more PRF payment(s) exceeding a total of $10,000 from January 1 through June 30, 2021, must report on their use of funds no later than Friday, September 30 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.  More information and resources can be found on the PRF Reporting web page.

 

NACBH Public Policy Conference Materials

With thanks to all who participated in our annual Public Policy Conference last week, we can report that it was a resounding success!  Eighty percent of attendees who submitted evaluations said that it exceeded their expectations, 20% said it met their expectations, and no one was disappointed.  One hundred percent “strongly agreed” that the content was timely and relevant, and ratings for all of the speakers averaged between 8.2 and 9.5 on a 10-point scale.  As always, the quality of the discussion and sharing of information among attendees contributed mightily to the relevance.
